We will be exploring the art media of collage looking first at the work of Romare Bearden, mathematician, musician and collage artist. We also viewed the work of other collage artists Kurt Schwitters, Hannah Hock, David Hockney, Matisse and Chinese artists Hong Hao and Xue Song
To understand the background/ context of how collage we need to look at these two art movements: the Dada and Surrealist
The four collage devices that we need to know are:
juxtaposition/ fragmentation point of view, scale change overlapping these allow us to work with the media in a sophisticated manner.
